Bridging Communities, Enriching Lives

Where Indigenous ways of knowing and being meet community empowerment in the heart of Dufferin County.

About Us

The Brave Canoe is a visionary Indigenous-led not-for-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing Indigenous culture in Dufferin County by providing comprehensive programs and services founded in an Indigenous worldview, guided by Indigenous ways of knowing, fostering unity and healing.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bridge communities, enrich lives and promote well-being within Dufferin County by revitalizing and understanding Indigenous history, culture, and traditions. Using a Two-Eyed Seeing approach, we are dedicated to promoting Indigenous ways of knowing while actively decolonizing the lived experience of Indigenous peoples and their supporters.

Our Vision

Our vision is to become a leading catalyst for Indigenous cultural resurgence and community healing in Dufferin County, fostering an inclusive environment that promotes Indigenous ways of knowing, teaching and approaches, enhancing the community’s cultural fabric.
